I am a Shiatsu practitioner and qualified counsellor and have worked in Merseyside, Wirral and Cheshire for a number of years.
Some years ago I found Shiatsu very effective in solving a long-standing health problem and in building energy and vitality. I was hooked! A taster weekend led to me training on the Diploma course at the Liverpool School of Shiatsu-do and I now work with a wide variety of clients and health issues and offer workshops and talks on Shiatsu.
I offer treatments in a new Holistic Centre in Neston, or in client’s own homes if preferred.
Shiatsu is based on oriental medicine and in the same way as acupuncture it works on the energy points in our bodies, but instead of using needles, the Shiatsu practitioner uses finger or thumb pressure. (In Japanese, Shiatsu means “finger-pressure”). A typical Shiatsu treatment will also include gentle stretches and massage techniques to work into the muscles and joints.
A Shiatsu treatment is carried out fully clothed, lying on a comfortable futon or sitting in a chair and lasts for about an hour. It will include a full diagnosis, the actual treatment and recommendations for diet and lifestyle.
Shiatsu is a whole body treatment and is therefore effective with all sorts of health complaints. – please see the “About Shiatsu” page for details of the many modern health issues Shiatsu can effectively treat.
Even if you are well, regular Shiatsu treatments can increase energy and give greater vitality and relaxation.
In the end, the best way to get an idea of what Shiatsu is like is to try a treatment for yourself and feel the difference!
