Crystal Therapy
For thousands of years, the power and beauty of crystals has been recognised and used by many different cultures in many different ways.
In the formation of crystalline structures, the minute particles of which all matter is comprised come together in perfect unity and harmony and vibrate at extremely precise frequencies. It is this precision in quartz that has proved to be invaluable in the production of, amongst other things, computer chips, lasers, timekeepers of all kinds and ultra sound devices. Crystals are also capable of absorbing, magnifying and transmitting light – the highest form of energy known to the physical universe.
On a more esoteric level, crystals have been used throughout history by the Mayans, Native Americans, Aztecs, Egyptians, Romans, people of ancient India and the east and in Celtic Britain. These cultures recognised the healing properties of crystals and their beneficial effects on the energies of the body.
Crystals may be used by anyone to uplift, heal, protect, receive and transmit loving, healing energies. However, we work co-creatively with crystals, treating them with love and respect, choosing, cleansing, blessing and programming them with care. Crystals often ‘find’ the person they need to be with but, when choosing crystals, let the mind become quiet and, holding the purpose in mind, choose the one that appeals most strongly. The crystal must then be cleansed and programmed. Individuals have attempted to use crystals for evil purposes, but whatever energy is sent out is always returned to the sender eventually.
There are many methods of cleansing. Perhaps the easiest way is to hold the crystal under running water and visualise any negativity being washed away, transmuted into light. Next, get to know your crystal, carry it around close to you so that you can begin to tune in to each other’s energy.
To programme a crystal, first ground yourself by sending love down through you and deep into the earth. Feel that love returned. Now hold the crystal close to your heart and send love out to the highest level of spirit and visualise the healing power of the universe returning through the crown of your head and flowing down into your heart. Feel that power and love flow out to the crystal. You are now ready to begin working together.
Traditionally, it has been the priests and priestesses, shamans and elders who taught the ancient arts of healing. Today this knowledge has become more easily accessible to those who have a sincere wish to help others and who are prepared to undertake courses of study with integrity, commitment and enthusiasm. However, if you are looking expert help in the field of crystal therapy, it is important that the therapist you choose is suitably qualified, works to a code of practice and has insurance.
The affiliation of crystal healing Organisations (ACHO), of which the SVA is a member, maintains a register of qualified crystal healers throughout the UK.
